Our Story

Perera Crowther was founded by Sam Perera and Josh Crowther in 2005, before gradually diverging into separate financial advice and lending businesses.

Under the leadership of Sam Perera, Perera Crowther Financial Services has evolved into a multi-disciplinary financial advice company encompassing superannuation planning, risk advice and financial planning for corporations and individuals.

We are proud to play a leadership role in the community and the financial advice industry. As highly active members of the Association of Financial Advisors, we advocate for consumer protection and a healthy and fair relationship between the finance/insurance commmunity and our clients.

Sam Perera

Managing Director

Sam is a founder of Perera Crowther Financial Services. He is responsible for formulating the strategic advice for clients, and has advised clients from a range of backgrounds, including leaders in politics, academia and the medical and legal fraternity.

Sam is working towards completing a Masters in Financial Planning, and holds a Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning and an Advanced Diploma of Accounting. He also is a founder and Director of Econ Insurance Services, a subsidiary of Economos Chartered Accountants which is a BRW Top 100 Accounting Firm.

Sam enjoys serving the Financial Services industry and is the National President of the Association of Financial Advisers. Relating to his work on regulatory reform he has authored papers and been heavily involved in lobbying efforts on Future of Financial Advice reforms and the Life Insurance Framework. Sam has presented as an expert witness to several parliamentary committees on matters pertinent to Financial Services.

Mark Femia

Principal Financial Adviser

Mark was the Founding Partner of Primo Insurance  which merged with Perera Crowther Financial Services in 2021 and has over 14 years’ experience in the financial services industry.​

Since 2005, Mark has held various positions in the industry and recently worked for one of Australia’s leading brokerage firms JLT, managing their national financial advice business.​

Mark is passionate about helping his clients achieve their financial goals and ensuring that they are adequately protected in the event of the unexpected. Specialising in all forms of life, key person, disability and group insurance, Mark currently provides risk management advice to some of Australia’s wealthiest individuals.

Kristen Agius

Financial Adviser

Kristen joined Perera Crowther Financial Services in 2016 whilst completing her Bachelor of Commerce degree in Wollongong, and soon became a key part of the team assisting with client strategies, research and reporting.

Kristen uses her strong technical and clear thinking abilities to formulate and deliver advice, helping clients achieve and protect their financial goals and objectives through her expertise in all forms of life, key person, disability and group insurance.

Kristen also oversees client reviews and service delivery for our corporate clients.

Janelle Chuter

Operations Manager

A key contributor to the success of our strong client relationships, Janelle has over 20 years experience in financial services and supports Sam in implementing the financial plans and strategies for clients.

Prior to joining the financial services industry, Janelle worked within the judiciary in operations. She uses this knowledge to ensure the smooth operation of Perera Crowther, enabling Sam to focus on clients and the strategic direction of the business.

Matt Wurth

Client Relationship Manager

Matt has been in the financial services industry for over 14 years.

​Over this time, Matt has held multiple client servicing roles across the retail and group insurance industry. Matt has developed key relationships with all the major insurers in the market and is an invaluable member of the Perera Crowther team.

​Matt prides himself on delivering an exceptional client experience and is the first point of contact for all clients both new and existing.

Margie Janouschek

Administration Manager

Margie focuses on ensuring the process we follow in providing advice is of the highest standard, meets regulatory requirements and exceeds our best practice benchmarks.

Having worked in the banking industry for over 25 years, Margie uses her wealth of experience to oversee our ongoing review program to help ensure that our clients are attuned to the portfolios we manage on their behalf.

Aimee Corr

Aimee Corr

Financial Planning Assistant

Aimee joined Perera Crowther Financial Services in 2021 and worked with us while completing her Bachelor of Business at University of Technology Sydney. Aimee will graduate with majors in Finance and Management at the end of 2021.

Assisting in all aspects of the business, and with several years experience in customer service, Aimee is a valuable addition to our team who continues to build her skill set and implement her financially focussed business studies. Aimee assists with administration duties, research and reporting and helps to improve workflow efficiencies.

Leah Casia

Paraplanner

Leah supports our advice team in her role as a paraplanner. Leah is experienced in understanding insurance products and uses her technical competence to produce quality advice documents and her organisational skills to maintain high standards at all times.

Heide Bagano

Administration Assistant

Heide is an integral team member whose focus is around renewals and policy administration. Heide brings several years experience to her role and uses her problem solving skills, attention to detail and initiative to ensure efficient operation of our business. 

Sam is pro-active in managing the insurance design of our superannuation plan, and instrumental in the addition of Income Protection to the benefit design to ensure that our full-time employees are protected
